Privacy Policy

Lijn is built to read comics, not to collect data. Studio Alticcio does not track you, profile you, or sell anything about you. This page says exactly what leaves your iPad, when, and to whom.

What Lijn does not do

Lijn has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. The app sends nothing to Studio Alticcio. We do not know who you are, what you read, or how you use the app.

What stays on your iPad

Your files, library, reading progress, bookmarks, notes, annotations, statistics, and preferences are stored on the device. Server addresses and passwords for your catalogues, and any API keys you enter, are stored in the device Keychain.

iCloud

Lijn can keep your place in each album in sync across your iPads. It uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage, in your own iCloud account, for reading positions only: the album, the page, and the date you last read it. Your files, library, and notes are not synced. This is on by default and can be turned off in Settings. Apple handles this data under Apple's privacy policy; Studio Alticcio has no access to it.

Library backups are files you create yourself and save where you choose, including iCloud Drive.

Your catalogues

When you add an OPDS server (Komga, Kavita, Calibre-Web, or any other), Lijn connects to the address you provide to browse, search, and download. These requests go directly to your server; Studio Alticcio never sees them. If progress sync is on (the default), Lijn also sends your reading position back to that server when you close a book: Komga through its API, Kavita through OPDS-PSE. You can turn this off per catalogue.

Metadata lookup

Nothing is looked up unless you ask. When you use Find Metadata, Lijn sends the title, series, author, or ISBN you are searching for to one or more public catalogues and shows you what would change before anything does:

  • Bibliothèque nationale de France, Sudoc, and Wikidata, with no account or key.
  • Open Library and Google Books, for cover art and publication details, with no account or key.
  • MangaDex and AniList, for manga, with no account or key.
  • ComicVine and Metron, only once you have entered credentials you obtained yourself in Settings.

These requests carry the search terms and the app's name as a user agent ("Lijn/1.0"). They carry no account, device, or advertising identifier. Each service handles the request under its own terms.

Launch notice

If you ask on lijnreader.com to be told when Lijn ships, we store the email address you type, and the date, in a Cloudflare key-value store in the European Union. We use it to send one email when the app is available, and for nothing else. That email carries a link that removes your address; we delete the whole list after the launch email goes out. To be removed before then, write to privacy@lijnreader.com.

Purchases

Lijn offers one in-app purchase to unlock the full library. Apple handles the transaction through the App Store. Studio Alticcio does not receive your name, address, or payment details.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iPadOS Settings, Apple may send Studio Alticcio anonymised crash reports. They contain no personal information and no reading data. Lijn itself includes no crash-reporting library.

This website

lijnreader.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Your appearance choice is kept in your browser's local storage. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes connection data (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask what personal data we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted. Because Lijn sends nothing to us, we hold none. Write to us anyway with any question, and if you believe we have mishandled your data you may complain to the Commission nationale pour la protection des données (CNPD) in Luxembourg.

Children

Lijn does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it here. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
